Rodrick "Rod P" Pleasants 

Little Rock Arkansas native Rodrick "Rod P" Pleasants began his career in percussion at the early age of twelve. He began playing for his local church, gospel groups and school marching bands. After achieving several marching band awards and performing with local gospel talent, Rodrick was heard by Minister of Music Carl Hawkins. Hawkins was over the music program at Fellowship Missionary Baptist church, one of the cities prominent churches at the time. He employed Rodrick as the drummer of the church and gave an opportunity to perform with National Recording artist Angela Spivey. Determined to maximize his knowledge about playing music and to ensure future playing opportunities he enrolled at the University at Arkansas Pine Bluff majoring in Music Education. It was there that he was exposed to and fell in love with jazz music. He became a part of UAPB's jazz ensemble as both a drummer/pianist under the direction of Dr. Robert Walker. With his education and determination to succeed Rodrick has accomplished playing for national accredited artist such as  Ginuwine, Robert Curry and Willie Taylor of P Diddy's Day 26, Tom Browne most known for his hit Jamaica Funk, Tisha Campbell Martin, Jamal "Gravy" Woolard, Ment 2B, J. White, and Jonathan Karrant as well as share the stage with other national artist such as Monica, K. Michelle, Silk, H-Town, Tony Joe White, Anthony Gomes and Avant. Rodrick Pleasants is currently music director of his own band Rod P & Nu Standard which he uses to bring quality accompaniment to any national act looking for an already put together band program. With the passion of giving back and educating the youth, Rodrick’s private instructions has become well known in the community and has currently enrolled 21 students ranging from ages 3 to 24. He has been featured in several regional drum clinics and is continuing to make an impression on the drum community.
